Platinum DNA Health Screen
Our most comprehensive health screen, combining a full Platinum review with personalised genetic testing.
Longevity Testing
A health screen that knows you, inside and out
Most health checks tell you how you are doing today. The Platinum DNA Health Screen does that, and then goes further. It looks at the genes you were born with, so we can build a much more personal picture of your future health and how your body responds to medicines.
It is our most thorough health screen, designed for people who want a genuinely tailored plan for staying well. We take the sample, do the analysis, review the results personally, and sit down with you to put it all into practice.
What is included
The Platinum DNA Health Screen brings together everything in our standard Platinum Health Screen with our genetic testing service, Your DNA, Your Health Test. You receive both as one combined experience, with a single results consultation that brings the whole picture together.
Everything in the Platinum Health Screen
A comprehensive review of your current health, including consultation with Dr Shilpa Dave, full physical examination, blood tests, cardiovascular assessment, and a detailed report with personalised recommendations.
Plus Your DNA, Your Health Test
A combined genetic test that looks at:
- Your inherited risk of common conditions, including heart disease, several cancers, type 2 diabetes, and a range of other treatable inherited conditions.
- How your body handles medicines, covering 129 commonly prescribed drugs across heart and circulation, mental health, pain relief, cancer treatment, women's health and more.
Done once, valuable for life
The genetic test only needs to be done once. Your DNA does not change, and we can revisit your results in future years as the science moves on.
Why combine the two?
Most health checks tell you how you are doing today. The Platinum DNA Health Screen does that, and then goes further. It looks at the genes you were born with, so we can build a much more personal picture of your future health and how your body responds to medicines.
It is our most thorough health screen, designed for people who want a genuinely tailored plan for staying well. We take the sample, do the analysis, review the results personally, and sit down with you to put it all into practice.
How it works
We run the whole service ourselves, from start to finish. You stay with us throughout.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Your appointment | Your Platinum DNA Health Screen begins with a thorough consultation and physical examination with Dr Shilpa Dave. Blood tests and other clinical assessments are completed at the same visit, along with a simple blood sample for the genetic test. |
| 2. Your analysis | Your standard health screening blood results come back quickly. Your DNA sample is sent to an accredited laboratory for detailed analysis, which takes a few weeks (up to 6 weeks). |
| 3. Our review | We review clinical results and your genetic findings together, in the context of your medical history, your family history and what matters to you. Where required we will discuss your results with the London Genetics Centre for expert advice before your results consultation. |
| 4. Your results consultation | We sit down together and go through the whole picture in plain language. You take away a clear written report, and we agree the next steps as a team. |
| 5. Your personal plan | For most patients, this means a personalised screening schedule, lifestyle advice tailored to the areas where it will make the biggest difference, and adjustments to medicines where they would help. For higher-risk findings, we arrange specific screening tests and, where appropriate, refer to a specialist who can offer expert input. We stay closely involved with your care throughout. |
| 6. Long-term care | Your DNA does not change, so the genetic test is a one-off. We can revisit your results in future years as the science moves on, without taking another sample. The wider Platinum screen can be repeated annually as part of your ongoing care. |
What you will learn
About your inherited risks
Your test uses two complementary approaches:
Monogenic testing
Looks for rare gene changes that, on their own, can noticeably raise the risk of a particular condition. These are the inherited changes that sometimes run strongly in families.
Polygenic risk scoring
Adds up the small effects of millions of tiny genetic differences to give you an overall percentile score for how your inherited risk compares to the rest of the population.
Together, these tell us about your risk of:
- Common cancers, including breast, ovarian, prostate, bowel, gastric, pancreatic and skin cancer.
- Inherited heart conditions, including familial high cholesterol and inherited heart muscle and rhythm problems.
- Coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, raised blood pressure and unhelpful cholesterol patterns.
- Type 2 diabetes.
- A small group of other treatable inherited conditions.
About your medicines
For each of 129 commonly prescribed drugs, your report tells us whether you can take a standard dose, need a lower starting dose, would do better on an alternative, or simply need closer monitoring. This information lasts for life and helps us prescribe better for you, every time.
Who is this for?
The Platinum DNA Health Screen is suitable for any adult over 35 who would like the most thorough and personal picture of their long-term health. It is especially valuable if:
You have a family history of cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes or stroke.
- You take, or are likely to take, several medicines and want to be sure they suit you.
- You are starting an antidepressant or another medicine where finding the right one can take time.
- You have has some health issues and want to take control of your health
- You want to understand your inherited risks before they affect your life or family planning.
Because the genetic part is done once and lasts for life, this is a long-term investment in your health, not a one-off check.
Specialist input when you need it
Most patients will not need a specialist appointment. Almost everything can be acted on directly, here at the practice.
For the small number of results that benefit from a specialist clinical geneticist, we work directly with the London Genetics Centre, a leading specialist clinic with consultant geneticists covering cancer, heart, general and paediatric genetics. We arrange the referral, share the results with the team, and stay closely involved throughout. You do not have to navigate this alone.
